How do I search for a song on Instagram?

Type the song title, the artist name, or both into the box above and run the search. Matching tracks from Instagram's audio library load as cards with a playable clip, the duration and the cover art, so you can confirm the song exists on Instagram before building a post around it.

Can I find a song by pasting a link?

No. Identifying an unknown song inside a video needs audio fingerprinting — decoding the audio and matching an acoustic signature against a reference database, which is what Shazam does. This tool is a text search against Instagram's catalogue: you supply the name, it finds Instagram's version. If you do not know the song yet, identify it with an audio-recognition service first, then come back with the title.

Can I search by lyrics?

Not reliably. The catalogue is indexed by track title and artist rather than by lyric content, so a remembered line will usually not match. If you only know the lyrics, look them up elsewhere first and search here with the resulting title.

Why do several versions of the same song appear?

Instagram treats each variant as a separate catalogue entry — original, sped-up, slowed and reverbed, remixes, live versions and covers. This matters on Reels, where a sped-up edit often spreads further than the original. Each version has its own player here so you can hear which is which before choosing.

Is Instagram music search free?

Yes. No Instagram login, no account and no app are needed to search the library and play the clips.

Can I download the songs?

What plays is the preview clip from Instagram's licensed library, not a full-length track. To use a song in a post, search its exact title inside the Instagram Reels editor and attach the official audio there — that is what links your reel to the sound's page and earns the extra distribution.

I found the song here but it is missing in my Instagram app. Why?

Instagram's commercial music library is narrower than its personal one, so business accounts see fewer tracks for licensing reasons. A song listed here may not be available to your specific account type.

What if my search returns nothing?

It is a catalogue text search, so spelling matters. Try the artist name on its own, or a shorter fragment of the title. If the song genuinely is not in Instagram's library, no amount of rephrasing will surface it — not every song is licensed for Instagram.

Does it show how long each clip is?

Yes. Every result shows the duration of the available clip, which is what you need when cutting a reel to a specific length.

Does searching here show up on my Instagram account?

No. You are never signed in to Instagram, so nothing is attributed to any account and nothing appears in your activity or search history there.
